Robert Konzelmann joined Open Architecture Office as Senior Design Associate with a singular instinct: take a familiar condition and ask how it could become something more memorable, more human, and more worth experiencing.

As Senior Design Associate, Robert brings deep expertise in architectural design, visualization, and client engagement across healthcare, residential, mixed-use, and cultural work. He listens more than he speaks, synthesizes what a room is saying, and turns that into informed, deliberate design decisions that move a project forward. His ability to connect with clients quickly and deeply, often understanding what they are looking for before it is fully said, makes him a distinct asset at every stage of a project.

He came to OAO from Kahler Slater, where he spent over four years reimagining what healthcare environments could look and feel like, notably the SSM Outpatient Center in Sun Prairie, WI.  Before that, he worked at Lamar Johnson Collaborative across luxury residential, cultural institutions, and urban-scale projects including the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago.

Robert holds a Master of Architecture and a Master of Civil Engineering in Construction Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is an Associate AIA and LEED AP BD+C.
